THE VALUE OF MENTORING

Mentors play an important role in the lives of youth and young adults. They help them set goals, develop interpersonal skills and develop positive connections within the community. Research has confirmed what we know anecdotally and intuitively that mentoring works. The Collective Generational Mentoring Foundation (TCGMF) aims to support mentors and mentees through career and personal development initiatives.

MISSION

The Collective Generational Mentoring Foundation is a broad-based collaborative mentoring organization created to positively impact the lives of youth and young adults with a specific focus on African American males.

OUR LATEST EVENTS

2024 MENTORING SUMMIT

On Saturday June 22nd, The Collective Generational Mentoring Foundation (TCGMF)
will host the 10 th Annual Mentoring Summit at the Community Collective located at . This event will focus on training and information for those who engage in mentoring activities (mentors, advisors, coaches, youth leaders and mentees), and also culminate with a keynote luncheon which celebrating the organization’s ten years of service. The summit speaker lineup will feature thought leaders and subject matter experts who will share tips on how attendees can enhance and make their mentoring relationships more effective. Registration information and additional summit details will be announced in the coming weeks

The foundation is led by Houston community leader Eric Lyons, whose work has impacted hundreds of Houstonians as an mentoring advocate, entrepreneur, and as a former President of both the Greater Houston Black Chamber, the local chamber of commerce aimed at increasing economic opportunities for African-American-owned businesses, and the National Black MBA Association – Houston Chapter.
